Biography
Who is Ethan Alexander?
My name is Ethan Alexander Clifford. I am a 19 year old college student at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
When discovering my brand as an artist, I found that it's all of my personality traits and experiences that fuel the songs I write. My writing and love for production details is what defines my craft. My biggest music inspiration comes from artists like Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish, Phoebe Bridgers, and Benson Boone. Another trait that I find most unique in my identity as a young pop artist is that I am from a small town in southwest Ohio. My experiences growing up here are different than other young, popular artists. My lyrics often reflect on living in the Midwest and wanting to be a pop star. Lastly, my ability to learn to play multiple instruments and dive into the basics of music theory as I got older allowed me to write and produce my own demos. Though, I am not a producer, I do love to add elements to my music that make it feel like me. I have always been one to rock the boat, but in a good way.
Inspiration
When I was a baby, my mom used to sing me "Tim McGraw" from Taylor Swift's first album to put me to sleep. From a really young age, my mom told people she knew I'd be a singer like her. She said I used to hum the notes that the vacuum made when she'd run it around the house when I was only 3. Of course, my entire family became huge "Swifties" as she grew in popularity. My mom eventually taught me to play some chords on guitar. The first song I ever learned to play on guitar, and later piano, was "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley. Once I had a little bit of experience playing chords on multiple instruments, I started to learn songs by Lana Del Rey, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, and more. Once I learned how other people wrote music through playing by ear, I started to write my own songs in 7th grade, I have been writing songs since, and picked up some recording skills over the past 5 years
Social Analytics
For the past few years, TikTok has reshaped the way music is spread throughout the world. Tiktok has now become the number one place for finding new talent. It also happens to be where my biggest following lives.
Until recently, I didn’t take TikTok very seriously. However, I started posting singing videos. In just over a month, I have reached over 20K views total on my videos.
Although TikTok is an amazing resource, I am not as well-versed in it as I wish I was. I can’t, alone, produce promotional content for my music. I would require the help of a label or management to further push my music.
